TriCoreDB Beta Software Licence

This licence covers TriCoreDB: the database server ("tricore-server"), the
command-line tool ("tricore"), TriCoreDB Studio, their installers, and the
documentation and configuration distributed with them (together, the
"Software"). It does not cover the client drivers in the "sdk" directory,
which are licensed separately under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (see
sdk/LICENSE), or third-party components, which remain under their own
licences (see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt).

The Software is licensed, not sold. By installing or using it you accept
these terms. If you do not accept them, do not install or use the Software.

1. What you may do

   While the Software is offered as a beta release, you may, free of charge:

   (a) install and run the Software on computers you own or control;
   (b) use it to evaluate it, and to store and process your own data, for
       your own personal or internal business purposes;
   (c) make copies of the Software as reasonably needed for backup.

2. What you may not do

   Except where the law gives you a right that cannot be excluded by
   agreement, you may not, without the prior written permission of the
   copyright holder:

   (a) distribute, sublicense, sell, rent, lease or lend the Software, or any
       part of it, to anyone else;
   (b) offer the Software, or its functionality, to third parties as a hosted,
       managed or database-as-a-service offering;
   (c) modify the Software or create derivative works of it;
   (d) decompile, disassemble or otherwise reverse engineer the Software, or
       attempt to derive its source code;
   (e) remove or alter any copyright, trademark or licence notice in it;
   (f) use the names "TriCoreDB" or "TriCoreDB Studio", or their logos, to
       identify any product or service other than the unmodified Software.

3. Ownership

   The copyright holder keeps all rights, title and interest in the Software,
   including all intellectual property rights. No rights are granted other
   than those stated in section 1.

4. Beta software

   The Software is pre-release software. It may contain defects, may lose or
   corrupt data, and may change or be withdrawn at any time. Do not rely on
   it as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose; keep your own
   independent backups.

5. Feedback

   If you send suggestions or feedback about the Software, the copyright
   holder may use them without restriction and without obligation to you.

6. No warranty

   THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF
   ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES
   OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7. Limitation of liability

   TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COPYRIGHT
   HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, INCLUDING LOSS
   OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF
   CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE
   SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.

8. Termination

   This licence ends automatically if you breach it. It may also be ended by
   the copyright holder on notice, including by publishing a later release
   under different terms. When it ends you must stop using the Software and
   delete every copy you hold. Sections 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 continue to apply.

9. Earlier releases

   Releases of TriCoreDB published before this licence was adopted remain
   under the licence they were published with. This licence applies to this
   release and to later ones.
